ITL, in partnership with Elbit Systems of America (ESA), installed over 50 80’ to 180’ IFT Sensor and Communications towers across remote regions of southern Arizona for the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
ITL had a “cradle to grave” responsibility for all site and infrastructure including preparing the site, laying in the foundation, installing the new tower structure, then installing the system components for the IFT system, including microwave and radar antennas and long-range cameras.
ITL was also tasked with sustainment of the system through the completion of customer testing and system sustainment after CBP has accepted the IFT systems.
The IFT systems can spot a person, even if partially hidden for up to 3 seconds, from up to 7.5 miles away. U.S. Border Patrol agents use this system to respond appropriately to any identified items of interest.
